The working principle of bevel gears and precautions for their use
Technical requirements for bevel gears:
1. Forgings must not have any forging defects.
2. Normalizing treatment, HB179-217.
3. The surface carburized layer has a hardness of HRC58-62, while the core exhibits a hardness of HRC32-45. The hardness transition in the intermediate layer should gradually decrease until it reaches the low-carbon base material. The carburized depth ranges from 1.0 to 1.4 mm, with a carbon content of 0.8% to 1.05%.
4. The metallographic inspection standard shall comply with the provisions of "Metallographic Inspection Standard for Carburized Gears" (JB1673-75). ⑤ Perform shot peening after low-temperature tempering.
The working principle of bevel gears is that the teeth of the driving gear sequentially push against the teeth of the driven gear, transmitting motion and power between two shafts.
Characteristics of bevel gears:
1. Meshing transmission, accurate gear ratio, smooth operation, and low noise.
2. Offers a wide range of applicable power and speed capabilities.
3. Long lifespan.
4. The cost isn’t very high, but it requires specialized equipment for processing.
The tightness of the bevel gear must be just right—too tight or too loose can both lead to damage. If it’s set too close, it may cause bearing wear, while being too loose could easily result in the sprocket dragging the chain. Be mindful of this during installation, and make sure to check whether the gear is wobbling or misaligned, as these issues can disrupt its proper function and accelerate wear. Everyone should carefully inspect and pay close attention to the installation process.
